Bio / Artist Statement
Ella Rice is an interdisciplinary artist, primarily working in acrylic, mixed media, and digital drawing programs. She is deeply inspired by the human condition and the narratives of emotion within it, particularly her own. Hope, growth, queerness, music, mythology, fantasy, and connection with the natural world are also important contributors to Ella’s practice. In addition to her original work, Ella creates fan art inspired by the media she loves. This work is often digitally drawn and shared under the pseudonym “Fang”.
Ella was born and raised in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. She was surrounded by creatives from birth, particularly her grandmother, who helped spark her passion for art and still works as a painter at Lunaria Gallery today (Ella’s mother and grandmother were both co-founders of Lunaria). Her lifelong residence in the Pacific Northwest has given her a love for geographic diversity and adventure, both expressed in her artwork. She continues to live there today as she studies Studio Art and History at Willamette University.
