Bio / Artist Statement
Ella Rice is an interdisciplinary artist, primarily working in acrylic, mixed media, and digital drawing programs. They are deeply inspired by the human condition and the narratives of emotion within it, particularly their own. Hope, transformation, queerness, music, mythology, fantasy, history, and connection with the natural world are also important contributors to Ella’s practice. In addition to their original work, Ella creates fan art inspired by the media they love. This work is often digitally drawn and shared under the pseudonym “Fang”.
Ella was born and raised in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. They were surrounded by creatives from birth, particularly their grandmother, who helped spark their passion for art and still works as a founding member of Lunaria Gallery today. Their lifelong residence in the Pacific Northwest has given them a love for geographic diversity and adventure, both expressed in their artwork. They continue to live there today while they pursue a BA of Studio Art and History at Willamette University.
