Bio / Artist Statement
Ella Rice (any pronouns) is an interdisciplinary artist, primarily working in acrylic, mixed media, and digital drawing programs. They are deeply inspired by the human condition and the narratives of emotion within it, particularly their own. Hope, transformation, queerness, music, mythology, fantasy, history, and connection with the natural world are also important contributors to Ella’s practice. In addition to their original work, Ella creates fan art inspired by the media they love. This work is often digitally drawn and shared under the pseudonym “Fang”.
Ella was born and raised in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. They were surrounded by creatives from birth, particularly their grandmother, who helped spark their passion for art and still works as an artist today. Although they enjoy traveling, Ella has a special place in their heart for the nature and whimsy of the Pacific Northwest. They have a strong home base in Oregon, where they’re pursuing a BA in Studio Art and History at Willamette University.
